About the trainer

Sheila Johnson is a 7th generation paternal and 8th generation maternal horse trainer and competitor.

She grew up riding Quarter Horses in Little Britches rodeos and 4-H shows in her spare time from helping her mom & dad cowboying on ranches across Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, & Texas, which is where her love for Three Day Eventing was born as she galloped head long through the terrain of the Canyonlands chasing wild cattle.

All through her youth she continued to compete in AQHA, 4-H, hunter/jumper, eventing, rodeo, and open shows winning many championships, all arounds, and high point titles.

Training under the tutelage of many well versed trainers Sheila continued to develop her own brand of training with a foundation in original  old time natural horsemanship that was passed down from of decades familial  knowledge. She brings a sense of calm and understanding to each individual horse and rider to develop and build a solid base that will project a strong competitor or companion!

Sheila developed Shamrock Sport Horses in 1997 while building & managing  a horse ranch in Eastern Utah taking their young AQHA & APHA stock to show. Over the next 6 years she took on 2 Thoroughbreds just off the track and developed their training to preliminary level eventers, champion show jumpers, and soft supple children's short stirrup hunter, and high point all around English/western  youth and open winner.

Sheila's list of accomplishments in both the Western and English disciplines is commendable and truly shows in her love of horses and dedication to each one individually as she brings each one to their highest potential.

Jessica Lanford -
Assistant & Resident Trainer

Jessica Lanford has officially joined Shamrock Sport Horses LLC.,  as an assistant trainer with her speciality training barn, Heaven's Chance!

We would like to welcome Jessica.

Jessica was born into horses through her mother, Sheila Johnson, owner of Shamrock Sport Horses. She grew up on horses starting at the tender age of 2 weeks old riding with her grandpa hauling salt to cattle on the Grand Mesa in Colorado.

She showed a keen interest in horses starting young and would go with her mother to work at a hunter jumper barn when she wasn't in school helping to groom, ride, and she took her first lesson from Sis Steffan, former trainer to the stars and short-listed LA olympic eventer.

She then rode with Lee & CaMary Winn, Lee of course short listed for the olympics in show jumping and CaMary an internationally recognised  Grand Prix dressage rider, respectfully.

While perfecting her talents and growing as a well rounded rider in both english and western disciplines she garnered some pretty hefty awards along the way. In 2006 she started eventing and qualified for the Area IX championships in her first 3 shows!

After taking a break from horses and showing above the local level she soon found the love of her life, her husband Dustin and then their blessed miracle, Baby Aila!

Having a family Jessica decided she wanted to pursue her career with horses again and give Aila the barn life that she so loved as a child herself and soon the brainchild of Heaven's Chance was born. For more on Heavens Chance go to -------- for more details.

We are very happy to have Jessica join us and we look forward to beautiful things in the future!!

The Next Generation!

Aila, Sheila's grand daughter and Jessi's daughter, is always ready to ride and has a friendly wave and hello for everyone who visits Shamrock Sport Horses. You'll catch her riding her pony next summer at any show she'll be able to find, angel wings and all.
